horizont Group – Quality, Innovation, and Safety

horizont is an international group of companies with offices in several European countries, exporting its products to over 50 countries worldwide. Central distribution and logistics are managed from Korbach, in the heart of Germany. The horizont Group consists of a network of specialized firms, each an expert in its respective field.

As one of the world's largest manufacturers of electric fencing, employing approximately 550 people across several factories, we produce security solutions for agriculture and mobile traffic control technologies. At horizont, product safety and reliability are always the highest priority.

Every year, thousands of various devices leave our factory in Korbach, representing the horizont brand globally. The name "horizont" has been a synonym for premium quality for over 75 years.

Innovative Products Made in Europe

The majority of our product range—including fencing materials and insulation products such as insulators, gate handles, and posts—is manufactured in our own European factories. Our core focus is to ensure the highest quality while continuously introducing new products and innovations to the market.

In addition to electric fencing, horizont offers a wide array of solutions for animal husbandry. Many of these are produced in-house. We also offer a rich selection of equestrian accessories—all following our motto: "Life with Animals."

Why the name "horizont"?

The name "horizont" is linked to the invention of the artificial horizon, a tool familiar to every pilot. The team that developed this invention included electrical engineer Dr. Heinz Müller. When he founded his company in 1945, he chose the name "horizont" to commemorate his breakthrough achievement.

75 Years of Premium Quality

Since its inception, the horizont brand has stood for top-tier quality. As a medium-sized company for over 75 years, horizont has consistently introduced innovative solutions aligned with the latest technical standards. Key stages of production for electronic components and plastic products take place in our own manufacturing plants, where quality is the paramount concern.

History and Development of horizont

Dr. Heinz Müller, the founder of horizont, began his career as an engineer in a small aircraft factory. He was responsible, among other things, for developing the artificial horizon—a revolutionary device that remains a standard in cockpits to this day. The artificial horizon allows pilots to determine the aircraft's pitch and bank angles when the natural horizon is not visible, such as in clouds or difficult weather conditions.

In 1945, Dr. Müller founded his own company, naming it "horizont" (from the English "horizon") in honor of his invention. Initially, the company specialized in electric fencing. However, in the 1970s, it expanded its operations into the road traffic safety industry.

Today, the horizont brand boasts over 50 patents and protected designs and is globally recognized as a leader in its industries. Thanks to decades of research and innovation, the company continues to grow, currently employing over 500 people worldwide.

Growth and Innovations

In the year 2000, horizont acquired the Klemmfix brand, merging it with its Signaltechnik (Signal Technology) department. This created an enterprise that is now one of the most respected brands in the traffic safety systems industry. This merger allowed for an expanded product range and further enhanced service quality.

Global Operations

Our headquarters are located in Korbach, in the picturesque region of Central Germany. The horizont Group includes a worldwide network of enterprises providing solutions for industry, trade, local authorities, and emergency services such as the fire department and police.

As one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of roadwork safety products, horizont is a reliable partner for customers, offering not only innovative solutions but also expert support at every stage of cooperation.
